Description
Responsible for the day to day support and maintenance for Company's messaging, server, SAN and Citrix
services
on a global basis by responding to, diagnosing and fixing all Business As Usual (BAU) incidents/issues and/or completing regularly scheduled tasks within SLA's.
To pro-actively monitor the server estate and highlight potential issues and bottlenecks. Implement all server builds and/or projects in accordance with the designated standards; adhering to the change control process to at all times.
To identify and drive infrastructure projects to improve the quality and resilience of the Company Server, SAN and virtualized services.
Main duties
BAU activities include ensuring all monitoring alerts are responded to in a timely manner with outages being avoided; Ensure overnight backups and ad hoc restores are completed. Ensure patching analysis is completed and implemented in a controlled fashion.
Resolve server, SAN and desktop problems as identified through monitoring or escalated by the Service Desk/other Company IT staff in accordance with agreed procedures, standards and service levels and in a way to minimize business disruption.
Responsible for the technical design, implementation and on-going support of Company's server (both physical and virtual), VDI, desktop and laptop infrastructure components.
Ensure that server, SAN and desktop software is maintained at levels to best protect the IT Operational service. Where necessary, identify areas to improve quality and resilience of the Company server, SAN and virtualized services.
Ensure that Server, SAN and Desktop security processes and controls are complied with across the Company estate.
Maintain effective measurement and reporting on the server, SAN and desktop services.
Ensure all Citrix installations of XenApp and XenDesktop are implemented and maintained.
Maintain and manage the externally hosted internet email AV and Anti-Spam solution.
Support the IT Operations project
manager
in the delivery and contribution to new infrastructure projects as directed by the group architects and agreed by the Group IT operations manager.
Execute planned preventative maintenance activities to improve the IT Operational resilience.
Participate in a yearly disaster recovery test and necessary remedial actions.
Ensure all necessary infrastructure documentation and operational support documentation is regularly reviewed and updated.
Manage the support from third party server, SAN and desktop suppliers.
Attend internal team meetings.
Occasional visits to the Datacentres to rack mount hardware and any other necessary activities.
Additional duties

Participate and undertake applicable professional, technical and career development training (delivered internally and externally) to include attainment of associated qualifications where required.
Where applicable ensure company, market and client related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time.
Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations.
Operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of the teams overall vision and objectives.
Liaise with key business groups to establish, support and maintain solid business relationships and organisational effectiveness.
To undertake any other duties of a similar nature that the company reasonably requests to be performed that are within the expertise and skills of the jobholder. These may be subject to periodic review and any updates and changes to be introduced after consultation with the person concerned.
Education/experience
Strong technical solution design and Microsoft, VMware and HP infrastructure experience
Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory 2003/2008, DNS, DHCP, DFS, DFRS
Good understanding of HP 3PAR, EVA and P4000 Storage Arrays
Good understanding of Fibre Channel and iSCSI Storage Area Networks
Good understanding HP Data Protect with D2D technology
Good knowledge of messaging using MS Exchange 2010 SP2, Lync 2010, Enterprise Vault v9, BlackBerry V5 & V10 and GOOD
Understanding of MS Sharepoint 2007 & 2010
Good knowledge of Citrix Xen Desktop, Xen App and Netscaler HW load balancers
Good knowledge of VMWare VSphere
Monitoring: SCOM 2012 & HP SIM
Service Desk: Altiris Helpdesk and Deployment/Packaging
Desktop Software: Windows 7
Hardware: current knowledge of HP Proliant Blade and rackmount servers
Good understanding of technology developments
Experience of managing third party supplier's service
3-5 years' experience of international IT operations
Some experience of supporting Financial Services business.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
